BIG 3 - Move Your Life Forward

How do you move your life forward? There’s a simple trick to it and we built it straight into our app. We call it BIG 3.

“No thank you! I don’t need any productivity advice. I have enough to do already.” scuffed off the CEO. 

“Let me make you an offer” the salesman wasn't easily discouraged. “It will take you just 5 minutes a day and will radically change your life, but if you try and it doesn't work, it’s free. If it does, just send me a check.” 

They had a deal and here’s the method the salesman outlined:

  • Write down all the things you have to do today.

  • Remind yourself of your long term goals.

  • Now order your list from most to least important, also taking into account how urgent things are.

  • Write a proper todo list with the 3 most important and urgent tasks, which will drive your life, business forward.

  • Start on your list from 1 and move on down until your day is finished.

Within 3 months the CEO sent the salesman a big, fat check with a note. It read “Your simple technique has created immense returns in my company. It’s so effective I have told my staff to also implement it. My sales have risen significantly, people are actually getting things done and the company as a whole is more positive and has regained momentum!”

Obviously you don’t need to be a CEO to use it. Prioritize your daily tasks, so they move your life forward. Keeping your long term goals in mind, you might find saving is getting easier, the journey to the gym shorter, or just realise you're actually ahead!

BIG 3 in apqa

In the apqa app we made it super simple to use. In the evening, in your Evening Planner you will find your BIG 3 for the next day. The tasks you add will appear on your dashboard the next day, so you can tick them off one by one.

If you didn’t have the time to plan them in the evening you can always add them when doing your Morning Primer. That’s also the place where you can edit them. 

From what we hear, planning them the day before makes more sense, as your subconscious mind has time to process your course of action, so you might find it easier to get them done this way. 

Sorting

When ordering your list remember about the three time proven methods:

Make tasks based on Goals: If you look at what is the long term outcome you're looking for and align tasks to achieve it your daily progress will be amazing.

Pareto Principle: What will be a task, which will bring great returns on your time and energy.

Eisenhower Matrix: Prioritize tasks in the following order: 

  • Urgent and Important

  • Important but not Urgent

  • Urgent but not Important

  • Not Important and not Urgent

Give it a shot! You might find your life is all of a sudden growing and blooming like all living things.
